Reference Answer

### **1. Swash Plate Pump (Axial Piston Pump)**
#### **Concept & Working Principle**
The Swash Plate pump is a type of axial piston, positive displacement pump. Its fundamental principle is the conversion of the prime mover's rotary motion into the reciprocating (axial) motion of multiple pistons. This is achieved by causing the pistons to follow the surface of an inclined, non-rotating swash plate.
- **Rotation**: The prime mover rotates a drive shaft, which is splined to a cylinder block (or barrel). The cylinder block contains a number of pistons arranged in a circular pattern, parallel to the axis of rotation.
