Reference Answer

### (a) Attachment of Fixed and Moving Vanes
**Fixed Vanes (Stator Vanes):**
* **Attachment Method:** The fixed vanes are secured to the inner wall of the static cylinder, also known as the stator. They are precisely machined projections that extend radially inwards.
* **Construction:** In many designs, the fixed vanes are cast as an integral part of the stator housing. This provides maximum strength and rigidity and eliminates the risk of loosening.
