Reference Answer

### **Total Flooding Fixed CO2 Fire Fighting System**
A fixed CO2 firefighting system is a total flooding system designed to extinguish fires in machinery spaces, pump rooms, and cargo spaces by rapidly discharging a large quantity of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). The system extinguishes fire primarily by displacing oxygen, reducing the oxygen concentration in the protected space from 21% to below 15%, thus smothering the fire. A secondary effect is cooling, as the liquid CO2 expands into a gas.
