**1. Purpose & Principle:**
Turbine side water washing is a corrective maintenance procedure performed to remove accumulated deposits of soot, carbon, unburnt fuel oil additives (e.g., Vanadium, Sodium compounds), and ash from the nozzle ring and turbine blades. This fouling reduces the nozzle throat area and alters blade profiles, leading to a decrease in turbine efficiency, a drop in scavenge air pressure, and an increased risk of turbocharger surging.
