In the event of an auxiliary engine overspeeding while off-load, immediate and decisive action is required to prevent catastrophic failure. The priority is to cut the fuel supply. The methods, in order of preference and safety, are as follows:
1. **Local Manual Fuel Rack Operation:**
* **Action:** If it is deemed safe to approach the running engine, the most direct method is to manually operate the fuel pump control linkage, forcing the fuel racks to the 'zero' or 'no-fuel' position. This immediately stops fuel injection into the cylinders.
