### (a) Monitoring of High-Pressure (HP) Fuel Pipe Perforation (7 Marks)
#### 1. Regulatory Requirement & Principle
In compliance with SOLAS Ch II-2, Reg 4, all external high-pressure fuel delivery lines between the high-pressure fuel pumps and fuel injectors must be protected with a sheathing arrangement. The principle of monitoring is to detect a leak from the primary HP pipe by collecting the leaking fuel within the outer sheath and activating an alarm.
