(b) A box-shaped vessel 60m long, 10m beam, and 6m deep, is floating in salt water at drafts 4m, Forward and 4.4 m. Aft. Find how far forward of amidships a weight of 30 tonnes must be loaded if the draft aft is to remain at 4.4m. (10)

### Part (a): Assigned Summer Freeboard (6 Marks)
**1. Definition**
* **Freeboard**: Fundamentally, freeboard is the vertical distance measured from the upper edge of the deck line to the upper edge of the relevant load line, at the vessel's side and at the midship point. It represents the height of the deck above the waterline.
* **Assigned Freeboard**: This is the minimum freeboard that has been officially assigned to a vessel by its flag state Administration (or a Recognised Organisation like a Classification Society acting on its behalf). Operating with a freeboard less than the assigned value for a given zone and season is illegal and constitutes overloading.
