### (a) Conditions for Synchronizing an Alternator
For an incoming alternator to be safely and correctly paralleled with a live switchboard (bus bars), four critical conditions must be satisfied. Failure to meet these conditions can result in severe electrical and mechanical stresses on the generator, prime mover, and the entire power distribution system.
1. **Same Phase Sequence:**
* **Condition:** The phase sequence (e.g., L1-L2-L3 or R-Y-B) of the incoming alternator must be identical to the phase sequence of the bus bars.
