#### 1. Description and Operation
A crankcase pressure relief device, commonly known as a crankcase relief valve or door, is a critical safety fitting designed to relieve any sudden and excessive pressure rise within an engine's crankcase, thereby preventing a catastrophic structural failure. Its secondary, and equally vital, function is to contain the flame front from a primary explosion, preventing it from igniting the surrounding atmosphere and causing a more violent secondary explosion.
