**Concept of Short-Cycling:**
Short-cycling refers to the premature and frequent starting and stopping of the refrigeration or air conditioning compressor. The compressor starts, runs for a very brief period (seconds to a few minutes), and then shuts off before the required cooling effect has been achieved in the refrigerated space.
