**Concept of Short-Cycling:**
Short-cycling refers to the premature and frequent starting and stopping of the refrigeration or air conditioning compressor. The compressor starts, runs for a very brief period (seconds to a few minutes), and then shuts off before the required cooling effect has been achieved in the refrigerated space. This condition is detrimental to the compressor's motor windings and mechanical components, leads to excessive energy consumption, and results in poor temperature control.
