A lead-acid battery is an electrochemical device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy (discharging) and vice versa (charging). A single cell produces a nominal voltage of approximately 2.1 Volts. For higher voltages, such as 12V or 24V, multiple cells (6 or 12 respectively) are connected in series within a common casing.
