Reference Answer

### (a) Safe Testing of Auxiliary Engine Quick Closing Valves (QCVs)
**Objective:** To operationally test the remote quick-closing valve for each auxiliary engine's fuel supply line, as required by SOLAS, without causing a shipboard blackout or endangering the vessel's operational capability.
**Principle of Safe Testing:** The fundamental principle is to test the QCV of one generator only after it has been electrically isolated from the ship's main switchboard. The vessel's electrical load must be securely handled by one or more other generators running in parallel throughout the test procedure.
