**(i) Carnot Cycle**
The Carnot cycle is a theoretical, ideal, and reversible thermodynamic cycle proposed by Nicolas Léonard Sadi Carnot. It represents the most efficient possible cycle for converting a given amount of thermal energy into work, or conversely, for creating a temperature difference by applying work.
