Reference Answer

### (i) Ozone Depletion and its Effects
#### What is Ozone Depletion?
Ozone (O₃) is a molecule consisting of three oxygen atoms, which forms a protective layer in the Earth's stratosphere, approximately 15 to 30 kilometers above the surface. This layer is crucial for life on Earth as it absorbs the majority of the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
Ozone depletion is the term for the thinning of this stratospheric ozone layer. The process is driven by the release of man-made chemicals known as Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS).
