#### Principle of Operation
A gear pump is a type of positive displacement rotary pump. Its working principle is based on trapping a fixed volume of fluid between the teeth of two or more meshing gears and a close-fitting casing, and then transferring this fluid from the suction side to the discharge side.
1. **Suction Phase:** As the gear teeth come out of mesh on the suction side, they create an expanding volume. This generates a partial vacuum, causing atmospheric or system pressure to force the fluid into the pump inlet.
