Reference Answer

### (a) High Pressure (HP) Cut-Out in a Refrigeration System
**Purpose and Location:**
The High-Pressure (HP) cut-out is a critical safety device fitted to the compressor discharge line, before the condenser. Its primary function is to protect the refrigeration system from over-pressurization. Excessive discharge pressure can lead to severe damage, including blown gaskets, fractured pipes, and catastrophic failure of the compressor or pressure vessel. It also prevents the formation of liquid refrigerant at the compressor discharge, which can damage the unit.
