Reference Answer

### (a) Pumping System for Liquefied Gas Cargo
A typical pumping system for a liquefied gas carrier is the vertical, multi-stage, deep-well centrifugal pump. One such pump is installed in each cargo tank, typically within a pump sump to maximize cargo out-take.
**Component Parts and Description:**
1. **Electric Motor:** A three-phase, high-voltage, explosion-proof (Ex 'd') or increased safety (Ex 'e') motor is mounted on the main deck, outside the hazardous tank area. This placement allows for safe access and maintenance.
