Reference Answer

### (a) Pumping System for Liquefied Gas Cargo
A common system for pumping liquefied gas is the deepwell pump, which is a vertical multi-stage centrifugal pump. Each cargo tank is equipped with one or more of these pumps.
**System Description and Component Parts:**
1. **Electric Motor:** Located on the main deck, outside the cargo tank. This prime mover is typically explosion-proof (Ex 'd' rated) to prevent ignition of any flammable vapors on deck. Its location outside the tank keeps it away from the cryogenic temperatures and allows for easy access and maintenance.
